WHO publishes materials aimed at providing high quality care to people affected by lymphatic filariasis
The World Health Organization (WHO) has updated an assistant guide for program leaders to help provide high-quality care to people suffering from lymphedema and other consequences of lymphatic filariasis, a weakened endemic neglected tropical disease (NTD) in 72 countries affecting dozens. millions of people.

It serves as a leading tool for national program managers in preparing a section on morbidity management and disability prevention in the country’s elimination dossier.
Updated in collaboration with the WHO Department of Emergency and Essential Surgical Care, the United States Agency for International Development, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the WHO Collaborating Center for Lymph Filariae Morbidity and Disability Prevention at the TD Government School of Medicine in Alappuzhi (State of Kerala, India), this handbook of materials will help countries expand care for people affected by lymphatic filariasis. It is also designed to provide extended clinical, operative, and management standard operating procedures for planning and implementing disability management, patient involvement, and prevention activities.
The target audience is program leaders, national and sub-national NTD public health workers, WHO regional and national office staff, NGOs and other implementing partners of the countries, and donors who support such activities.
