The Hong Kong legislature has formally backtracked over the controversial extradition controversy that has emerged in the months leading to unrest.

The project, which allegedly allowed crimes to be extradited to mainland China, was introduced in April.

Hundreds of thousands of people came out and the bill was eventually canceled.

However, the protesters have continued with the usual demonstrations around a broader movement for democracy.
