Earthquake Watching Gets More Teeth- The New Indian Express

By Express News Service

New Delhi: With nine low-intensity earthquakes recorded in the Delhi region in the past three months, the center has deployed additional seismic recording tools to closely monitor this activity. The strength of the nine earthquakes ranged between 1.8 and 2.9 on the Richter scale, and were mostly located in the west and southwest of Delhi, Rotak, Sunipat, Pagpat, Bahadurgarh and Ghaziabad.

The National Capital Region of Delhi and the surrounding areas were hit by minor and small earthquakes during the period from April to August of last year. The epicenters of these earthquakes are located in Northeast Delhi, Rotak, Sunipat, Baghbat, Faridabad and Warrior regions.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) at the Ministry of Earth Sciences consulted a small number of experts. Additional seismic recording tools have been published to closely monitor this activity and to perform field studies to characterize subsurface structures using techniques such as Magnetotellurics (MT).

Earthquakes are monitored by 11 additional temporary field stations, which were installed during May and June 2020. These stations continue to work to reveal the exact location of earthquakes in order to better understand the causative sources. These also provide nearly real-time data for identifying the location of earthquakes.

The MT survey involves measuring electrical and magnetic fields changing over time to determine the distribution of electrical conductivity in the Earth’s interior. It was carried out in cooperation with the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Dehradun, across the Moradabad Fault and the Great Border Fault (in Barili and the surrounding area).

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
