New Delhi: An earthquake on Tuesday 28 April struck the Himachal Pradesh district of Himachal Pradesh, with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale. According to initial reports, the tremors were felt around 12:17 pm and were moderate in size.

There have been no reports of loss of life or damage to property yet. The country witnesses dozens of light earthquakes every year due to its geographical location.

Different areas of Himachal Pradesh are prone to earthquakes as their borders lie in the continental collision zone of Indian and Eurasian plates. Earthquakes were a regular feature of the entire Himalayan system.

Earlier this month, a magnitude 2.7 earthquake in April 13 struck the Delhi-NCR region on April 13. The epicenter was in eastern Delhi, 8 kilometers underground. The tremors were also felt in Noida, Ghaziabad and neighboring Faridabad.
