Since the February 1 military coup, more than 700 people have been killed by security forces and thousands have been taken prisoner. Elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and members of his National League for Democracy (NLD) party have also been arrested. Since then, detainees have been reported to have been tortured while detained, and some have been killed as a result of their injuries.
