Predicting earthquakes a few weeks ago is a nice introduction, but we haven’t arrived yet

For major earthquakes, satellite forecasts work. They give us enough warning, for example, so we can safely stop the surgery before shaking begins. A few seconds are critical in some situations. But predicting a major earthquake a week or more requires something more. A research group in Greece is working on discovering changes in the Earth’s electrical environment, and hopes to make progress. What is interesting is that the changes it purports to discover occur in the correct time period – about ten days before sometimes – to be beneficial. A recent update to their method led me to take a fresh look at their work.

Unfortunately, the hypothesis is better than real. While the VAN method (named for professors Varotsos, Alexopoulos and Nomicos) is sensitive to changes in the Earth’s electrical field before earthquakes, it also produces an abundance of false positives. But not all is lost. Their method indicates additional phenomena that may only help unlock the earthquake initiation puzzle. This is my conclusion, which is now published in the May 2020 issue of the journal Physics of Earth and Indoor Planets.

Scientists recently searched for an explanation of how groundwater changes relate to earthquakes. Not all earthquakes see a rise in well water in advance, but some definitely do. The timing corresponds to the timing of the seismic electrical signals that the VAN Group is aiming to study. But the mechanism of how this water rises, and then falls after it, is not well understood. The last article summarizes the process and suggests that changes in minerals in surrounding rocks release water from the minerals themselves. This is then incorporated into new minerals after earthquakes occur, thereby reducing the level of well water after the event, and this corresponds to observation data. The water flow can also lead to the production of the alleged electrical signals at the observed strengths. Other groups, notably some researchers in Iceland, have worked hard to identify minerals before and after at least one case. Potential mechanism appears.

But there is another complication. The changes in the ionosphere, as they sometimes happen during solar weather, are related to about half of the large earthquakes that occur. It is not really feasible for ground operations to affect the ionosphere to match changes, but they may work in the opposite direction. The ionosphere may have a role to play in weakening ground rocks by affecting the geomagnetic field. It is still too early to say whether this will be a useful path for earthquake prediction, but with machine learning emerging, there may be an opportunity to explore some of these links further. “How do I write electricity and magnetism that can affect crystal lattices to release volatile matter from minerals, and whether this release can weaken rocks enough to support the hypothesis of the electromagnetic earthquake are open questions,” I write at the end of the article. I plan to do additional tests of this approach via machine learning with various seismic and ground data. Soon, we may be able to have a very good warning system that allows more than a week’s notice, which is a significant improvement in public safety.

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier. For additional info, money-saving tips, and free car insurance quotes, visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/ Compare-autoinsurance.Org is an online provider of life, home, health, and auto insurance quotes. This website is unique because it does not simply stick to one kind of insurance provider, but brings the clients the best deals from many different online insurance carriers. In this way, clients have access to offers from multiple carriers all in one place: this website. On this site, customers have access to quotes for insurance plans from various agencies, such as local or nationwide agencies, brand names insurance companies, etc. "Online quotes can easily help drivers obtain better car insurance deals. All they have to do is to complete an online form with accurate and real info, then compare prices", said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.
