The US Department of Transportation awarded a $ 11 million grant to Inyokern Airport for runway works and other improvements after last year’s earthquake damage.

Scott Seymour, General Manager of Inocern Airport, said that the airport’s management and board of directors had worked to obtain funds over the past year.

“I am very excited about this project, as well as the board of directors,” said Seymour. “This will be the largest grant the region has received.”

Although a domestic match of $ 1 million is usually needed, the grant includes this amount of funding under the CARES Act – passed by Congress in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
