Coronavirus: Boris Johnson moved to intensive care – BBC News

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been taken to hospital for intensive care after the symptoms of the coronavirus “worsened,” Downing Street reported.

Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab “when necessary,” a spokesman added.

The 55-year-old prime minister had “persistent symptoms” at St Thomas’ Hospital in London on Sunday.

The spokesman said his medical team had advised him and was receiving “excellent care”.

A statement said: “Since Sunday night, the Prime Minister has been in charge of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital in London after suffering from persistent symptoms of coronavirus.

“This afternoon, the prime minister’s condition has worsened and, through the advice of his medical team, he has been taken to the hospital’s intensive care unit.”
