The process for vaccine trials begins at NIMS
The process of conducting clinical trials for Covax, a vaccine candidate for COVID-19, began Tuesday at the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here, a senior official of the state medical institution said.

The Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) has identified 12 clinical trial sites such as medical and hospital institutions, including NIMS, and urged its lead investigators to ensure that the registration of the case begins no later than July 7. Asked about the total number of individuals required for clinical trial, Manohar said at least 30 are needed.
The proposal for clinical trials had already been submitted to the ethics committee at NIMS Hospital.
India’s Inspector General of Drugs recently granted permission to begin Phase I and II human clinical studies on CVax-COVID-19 vaccines being developed by Bharat Biotech, in collaboration with ICMR and the National Institute of Virology.
