KARNAL: The Haryana the government has set a target to increase the percentage of women in state police forces to 15% in the coming years, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Saturday.
Speaking at the passing parade of the 16th series of test sub-inspectors (P / SI) at the Haryana Police Academy (HPA) in Madhuban, Khattar said, When we came to power in 2014, there were only 3% girls in the police. First we increased it to 6%, which has now gone up to 10%, and now our goal is to bring it to 15%.
The crossing parade was attended by a total of 400 probationary inspectors, including 56 women. The 16th group includes 50 postgraduate graduates, 198 graduates and 152 graduates in vocational courses.
Taking an dig at former Prime Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Khattar said, Most former CMs were reluctant to visit the Mdhuban police academy, but I am happy to say this is my sixth visit here since I became prime minister.
He said there is a big difference in the work of the police and other departments. Police do not have a calendar and staff should remain on duty 24×7, whether this is a festival or a public holiday, he said.
Khattar said the Haryana government has decided to open the Modern Police Station in every district.
On this occasion, CM honored SI Sandeep, graduate, who excelled in various fields during the course. He also presented cash prizes to SHI Sahil Kumar (M.Sc, Mathematics), Suraj (B.Tech, Computer Science) and Rekha (MA, Sociology) for securing second, third and fourth positions, respectively.
DGP Manoj Yadav said, HPA has emerged as a leading police training institution where police officers have been sent not only from various Indian states but also from neighboring countries, including Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. So far, 2.50 lakh police officers have been trained at HPA, Madhuban in the last 44 years.
