5 President Jokowi’s direction regarding digital transformation: National Legal

JAKARTA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave five directions during a limited meeting on digital transformation planning held at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on Monday (03/08/2020).

The leadership of the head of state among them, first of all, Jokowi ordered the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate to accelerate the expansion of access and improvement of digital infrastructure. Then accelerate the provision of Internet services in 12,500 villages or sub-districts and at public service points.

Second, Jokowi ordered his staff to prepare a roadmap for digital transformation in all sectors, ranging from government, education, healthcare, commerce, industry and broadcasting.

“Don’t let the digital infrastructure that we have built actually have very low utility,” he added.

Third, the Head of State instructs his staff to speed up the integration of national data centers. “I think we discussed it too,” he explained.

Fourth, Jokowi wants its staff to prepare for the needs of digital human resources (HR) talent.

“It is very important to complete the digital transformation. Our country needs digital talent of around 9 million people for the next 15 years. It really needs to be a preparation for around 600,000 a year so that we can build a good ecosystem for digital talent growth. we are, ”he said.
