The 16m tall Sunshine Coasts Big Pineapple is now home to a new viewing platform, a new cafe, a children's playground and a fully restored train service. England: Wakefield bids to become UK sculpture capital
Wakefield Council has launched a plan to gain recognition as the UK's sculpture capital. The district is the birthplace of world-renowned sculptors Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore and home to sculptural attractions including Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the National Coal Mining Museum and Hepworth Wakefield. Now, the council has established a key tourism team to create a destination management plan, with a key objective to raise awareness of Wakefield as the UK's capital of sculpture.

Scotland: Dundee Eden project gets green light
The 130m Eden project in Dundee has been granted planning permission by councillors. The former gas works on East Dock Street will be transformed into three different venues which will feature wild cultivated landscapes, exhibitions, art installations, performances, science and storytelling. When completed, it is estimated to attract half a million visitors a year. Chief Experience Development Officer Blair Parkin said: “Our ambition is to create a globally relevant platform and provide a base for Eden's programs in Scotland. The Eden Project demonstrates and inspires positive action for the planet.”Dundee City Councilleader John Alexander expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that it will bring economic benefits, jobs and educational opportunities to the city.
