Families invited to enjoy Armed Forces Day celebrations in Newcastle Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council
Residents, shoppers and visitors of all ages can show their support for the men and women who make up the British Armed Forces community.
The council is once again working with the borough's Tri-Services and Veterans Support Centre, and the Royal British Legion, to host a celebration in Newcastle city center on National Armed Forces Day.
The annual event – on Saturday, June 29 – is an opportunity to honor the service of currently serving troops, as well as reservists, veterans, cadets and their families.
Among the many attractions are displays of vintage military vehicles and equipment, educational stalls, face painting and live music by Sassy Gray and the Songbirds and Cadie Knight. Food and refreshments can be purchased from the usual Sans Funky Kitchen market and there will also be a general market as usual.
The family-friendly event, based mainly in the market and Ironmarket areas, officially starts at 10.45am with a civic procession from Castle House followed by a short service at the cenotaph in Red Lion Square.

Musical performances – featuring some wartime favorites – take place at Market Cross, near the Guildhall, from 12.30pm.
An Armed Forces Day commemorative flag will fly at Queen's Gardens from Friday.
