Summer Guitar Festival welcomes international artists | News Services

East Carolina University's 26th Anniversary Summer Guitar Festival and Workshop will be July 11-14 at the AJ Fletcher Music Center.

The event features public concerts and instruction for anyone who wants to acquire or improve guitar skills, said Elliot Frank, director and founder of the festival and a guitar professor at ECU.

Frank, who also founded the Hispanic Heritage Guitar Series at ECU, will retire at the conclusion of the four-day guitar festival and workshop.

Participants will be taught by internationally renowned artists who serve as festival faculty and concert performers. This year they include four ECUSchool of Music graduates Armin Abdihodzic, Jean Pierre Castillo, Adam Kossler and Jesse Reece.

The concert line-up is:

Thursday, July 11

Afternoon Concert I, 4pm Patrick Lui and Colin Fullerton

Evening Concert I, 7pm Elliot Frank and Duo Kossler. This will be Franks' last official performance as a member of the ECU School of Music faculty.

Friday, July 12

Afternoon Concert II, 4:00 pm Jesse Reece and Jean Pierre Castillo

Concert II of the evening, 19:00 Armin Abdihodzic and Duo Li and Zohn

Saturday, July 13

Evening III, 19:00 Jeremy Waldrip, winner of the 2023 Summer Guitar Festival solo competition and Akerman Teixeira Duo

Events are ticketed. Individual afternoon concerts are $10 for adults and $5 for students, while evening concerts are $15 for adults and $10 for students. All five concerts can be purchased for $30 for adults and $20 for students, or a family fee of $50.
