Official launch of the new Southeast Incentive Center
Partners and colleagues from 20 local authorities across the area gathered to celebrate the launch of a new venture, Local Authorities Promotion of the South East. The goal is to increase the number of caregivers in the region.
As the lead authority for this innovative programme, Bracknell Forest Council hosted the launch event. It was great to get everyone together to celebrate the inauguration. We discussed the goals we have and shared what we have achieved so far.
Throughout the morning, partners and colleagues heard from numerous speakers from:
- Department of Education
- senior leaders from some of the South East local authorities
- youth who have experience of being in care as well as adults with experience.
It was great to share experiences and learn. This program will help with the urgent need to recruit more people to provide safe, loving and local homes for children in need.
There are over 11,000 children in care across the South East, and less than 3,000 local authority approved carers. The new virtual care center will ensure that prospective caregivers have access to a centralized platform for their initial questions about care. It will see local authorities work together to provide the best support, from the start of a journey that encourages carers.
