International News | Dye and Hull to represent England U18s in the International Series
Tom Dye and Ollie Hull have both been named in the England Under-18 squad for the upcoming Under-18 International Series – with the Northampton Saints duo both part of England manager Jonathan Pendlebury and assistant manager Will Parkin's 26-man squad.
Prop Dye – who recently signed with Saints' Senior Academy – is one of only seven players in the squad to have already won a first cap at Under-18 level, while lock Ollie Hull is set for his first experience of international rugby during the South Africa Series.
England will face their age counterparts from Ireland, France and South Africa in Cape Town and Paarl next month. While in the three-round competition that will take place on August 12, 16 and 20, Georgia and a South African A side also participate.
During the tournament, matches will be hosted at school venues, – with Stellenberg High School in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, as well as Paarl Gimnasium and Paarl Boys High School hosting the U18 teams on three match days.
Head coach Pendlebury said: “What we're looking to give these youngsters is experience that will serve them well as rugby players and as people, many of whom are experiencing international age rugby and traveling on a tour to first time.
“All of us on the Men's Pathway staff want to see them explore as players, trust their instincts and work collaboratively as teammates. This sense of togetherness starts off the pitch and is essential as a framework to encourage these players to do their best while representing England.
“We have focused on Speed as one of our key principles in recent camps, and the continuation of the U20s in the coming weeks gives us great inspiration as this young group begins its journey down the development path.”
