Riots in Bengaluru: State appeals to Supreme Court to make culprits pay damages

One week after the Pulikeshinagar riots in Bengaluru, the state government has decided to approach the Karnataka High Court to appoint a ‘Claims Commissioner’ to assess the damage caused to public and private property during the riots, and the culprits pay for these damages.

The inclusion of Goonda Law will also be considered by the SIT, wherever incidents involving rebellions entail such a provision.
