More than half of Filipino adults believe ‘the worst is yet to come’ with COVID-19

More than half of Filipino adults believe the worst has yet to come with the coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19), the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) study found.

The survey, conducted from July 3 to 6, 2020 among 1,555 respondents found that Filipino adults who believe the worst has not yet come with the COVID-19 situation rose from 47 percent in May 2020 to 57 percent in July, 2020

SWS said those who say the worst is behind us fell from 44 percent in May 2020 to 35 percent in July 2020, while those who did not respond stood at 8 percent.

The percentage of those fearing the worst has not yet come with the COVID-19 crisis is highest in Metro Manila at 70 per cent, followed by Visayas at 61 per cent, Luzon Balance at 56 per cent and Mindanao at 49 per cent.

Compared to May 2020, the percentage of those who fear the worst has not yet come has risen sharply in Metro Manila, by 20 points from 50 percent.

Highest among losers and pessimists

One July, 2020, the survey found 79 percent of adults saying their quality of life (QOL) had deteriorated (referred to by SWS as the Loser), despite 12 percent saying it was the same (unchanged), and only 8 percent said it got better (Winners), compared to a year ago.

Sixty percent of losers fear the worst has yet to come in relation to the COVID-19 crisis, compared to 48 percent of winners and 45 percent unchanged

On the other hand, one July, 2020, the survey found 36 percent of adults expecting their quality of life to deteriorate (called pessimists), versus 30 percent expecting it to stay the same (Neutrals), and 26 percent expecting it to improve (Optimists) in the next 12 months

Seventy-one percent of pessimists say the worst has yet to come compared to 56 percent of Neutrals and 45 percent of Optimists.

July 3-6 survey data were collected through mobile phone interviews of Filipinos aged 18 and over, randomly extracted from a database of mobile phone numbers compiled from face-to-face surveys of national and sub-national representatives of SWS since 2017.

The SWS noted sampling error limits of 2% for national percentages, 6% for Metro Manila, 5% for Balance Luzon, 5% for Visayas and 5% for Mindanao.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
