Sharad Pawar, Piyush Goyal, onion export, Mumbai news, expressive Indian newsNCP President Sharad Pawar on Tuesday asked Union Minister for Trade and Commerce Piyush Goyal to review the decision and lift the onion export ban.

Farmers in Maharashtra staged street protests on Tuesday against the Centers’ decision to ban onion exports.

In Lasalgaon in Nashik Asias the largest onion farmers keep their shops closed and brought the trade to a standstill in the market of the Agricultural Products Market Committee (APMC). Angry farmers also took to the streets and blocked traffic on the Mumbai-Agra highway.

Concerned about the continuing rise in wholesale and retail prices of the main culinary element, the Union government on Monday banned the export of onions.

After the ban, as protests were reported across Nashik and Ahmednagar in northern Maharashtra, in Lasalgaon, the average price of onions fell from Rs 2,950 per quintal to Rs 2,700 per quintal.

NCP President Sharad Pawar on Tuesday asked Union Minister for Trade and Commerce Piyush Goyal to review the decision and lift the onion export ban. He praised Goyal for the protests and the financial consequences that the ban would have on onion growers in the domestic market.

I have informed Union Minister Piyush Goyal that onions are in high demand internationally and we need to export them constantly. But an unexpected decision by the central government is a major blow to India’s image as a credible exporter of onions to the international market. Such a situation would bring great benefits to Pakistan and other onion exporters, he told the media.

State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Chhagan Bhujbal said: Farmers’ riots are not growing well. They have led to the cessation of the whole process of trade and action.

If protests continue, the supply of onions in the domestic market will also be hit. Farmers will suffer huge losses if the ban continues, he added.

Almost 40 percent of the total onions grown in the country are produced during the Khariff season (June to October). Onions will be cultivated again in the Rabi season from November to April.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
