Delhi recorded a record one-day increase of 4,473 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the number of city infections to over 2.3 lakh, while 33 more deaths were reported, authorities said.
The previous highest one-day high of 4,321 cases was recorded on September 12th.
The number of COVID-19 cities has reached 2,30,269 and the death toll has reached 4,839, according to the latest bulletin released by the Delhi health department.
Four of the 33 new deaths reported Wednesday are from the day before, she said.
On Tuesday, the death toll from Delhi by COVID-19 was 4,806.
Active cases on Wednesday rose to 30,914 from 29,787 the day before, the bulletin said.
The number of checkpoints in Delhi rose to 1,637 on Wednesday from 1,560 on Tuesday.

To further increase the availability of beds for COVID-19 patients in Delhi, the city government has decided to declare DU Hospital and BSA Hospital partially designated COVID hospitals for admission of confirmed and suspected cases.
The medical directors and supervisors of the two hospitals are headed to turn 100 beds each in their own hospitals into designated COVID wards by September 19, the government said in a September 15 order.
The Delhi government has also significantly increased testing in recent days.

The number of rapid antigen tests performed Monday stood at 51,318, while the RT-PCR, CBNAAT and True NAAT test figures were 11,275 in all adding 62,593, according to the bulletin.
As of Wednesday, the number of tests taken per million was over 1,21,556 while the total number of tests was 23,09,578.
The positivity rate is 7.15 percent, from 6.8 percent the day before, while the recovery rate is 84.47 percent, the bulletin said, adding that the mortality rate of issues stands at 2.1 percent.
Chief Secretary Vijay Dev, along with district magistrates, reviewed the management of COVID-19 in a meeting, according to the bulletin.
Since August 18, cases in the city have come to the four-digit count. According to the bulletin, out of the total number of 14,521 beds in COVID hospitals, 6,783 are vacant.
She said 2,736 beds in COVID care centers are occupied by quarantined persons, including passengers returning under the Vande Bharat Mission and by bubble flights.
The bulletin states that 1,94,516 patients have been cured, discharged or migrated so far.
The number of people in home isolation stands at 17,324.
