Equipped with more than 100 films, the 14th annual Fort Myers Beach International Film Festival will air online starting Tuesday.

While this year’s film festival will not use the Beach Theater on Estero Boulevard as it did last year, Paulauskis said the filmmakers have been “Happy” regarding the inclusion in their films for the festival. Paulauskis has been in contact with producers and filmmakers since April when the pandemic began and said they understand the festival’s concern about “Everyone’s health.”

Paulauskis said other film festivals across the country have also taken the broadcast route this year because of COVID-19. “The interest has been extremely strong,” she said. The festival has done interviews with some of the filmmakers that are represented and by posting them on their Facebook page.

Instead of a series of independent films from around the world being screened at the Beach Theater on Estero Boulevard, this year’s films will be streamed online at FMBFilmfest.com. The cost of each film is $ 8.

William Russ, best known for his roles in Boy Meets World and American History X, has a role in the independent short film Father in Law.

Featured films will include domestic shorts, international shorts, short documentaries and student films. Workshops run by independent filmmakers will also be online and free. The cost to watch each movie is $ 8 through. Paulauskis said the assistance will be provided to those who want to stream movies from their computer to their television equipment.

Parks, who has also done a lot of theater work in Sarasota, she said “I wanted to write something that women would like. Around the 1950s there is a lot of nostalgia. “It’s not all that was ruined to be,” she said. The film ends with the main character back in today’s world, in a comparison of times.

Parks had a role in Kevin Smith’s film “Killroy was here,” which was filmed in Sarasota. Parks said that the director of films like e.g. “Clerk” “Dogma” “Mallrats” and “Following Amy” it was “Super wonderful” and “Very approachable.” In 2018, Smith had a heart attack, but has since recovered. The film has not been released yet
