Skanska has signed a five-year, $ 334.9 million contract with Los Angeles World Airports, the operator of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), to undertake 16 projects to ease congestion and improve traffic at the third busiest airport. in the world.
Skanska will be the builder of airport authority projects for the Roadways, Utilities and Enabling (RUE) project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), designed to ease congestion in and the second busiest in the US
The contract comes as LAX pursues its ground access modernization program, which will feature an automated people move (pictured) and a consolidated car rental hub.
The RUE contract consists of 16 projects, including:
- The 98th Route extension, which will extend that road from where it currently terminates on Bellanca Avenue to Highway 405 – and where upgrades to the southbound highway on and off ramps will also be completed;
- Extensive service work within the LAX Central Terminal Area; and
- Construction of new signage to find the way to navigate the LAX following the airport access modernization program.
Individual RUE projects are advanced by LAWA to a minimum of 30% design completion, and in some cases to 100% design completion.
The project will be completed in Autumn 2025.
