While the fresh COVID-19 issues continued
to grow, the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday announced the reintroduction of curbs as permits for only 50 per cent of the capacity of cinema seats and a ban on selected activities on April 10, to help prevent the virus from spreading.
All those over the age of 45 should be vaccinated within two weeks in government or private recognized institutions to help prevent the spread of the virus, the government advised.
Retail outlets in major vegetable markets like the vast Koyambedu complex here and similar large facilities in the districts will not be allowed to operate, an official announcement said.
Taking passengers on buses in Chennai and for domestic and interstate travel will be limited to the capacity of the car seats and no passengers will be allowed to travel on foot. In taxis and autorikshaw, only three and two passengers will be allowed respectively.
Meetings for religious and festive purposes would be forbidden and prayers in all places of worship respecting norms such as social distancing would only be allowed until 20:00. The e-registration rule would be in place as before to monitor those arriving in Tamil Nadu from other states and abroad.
Limiting the maximum number of people who can attend weddings to 100 and those for funerals to 50, the government said spectators would not be allowed for sporting events and the pools should only be used for training.
Whether food, retail stores, malls, large format stores, restaurants and tea shops, the number of people that can be gathered at any one time should not exceed 50 percent of capacity and all outlets can operate up to 11 a.m. and receive services would also be open by that time.
The only ’50 percent’ rule would apply to cinemas, including single screen and multiplex, zoos, amusement parks, recreational clubs and ‘200’ is the maximum number of people that can be allowed in auditoriums for events including culture, entertainment, politics or sports.
Stressing strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures including wearing masks and social distancing, the government urged people to cooperate with it to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Firms, factories, shopping malls and hotels must provide thermal control, the use of hand and mask cleaners and exposures will only be allowed for the Business to Business process.
People who do not wear masks should not be allowed to enter premises, including hotels and shopping malls.
Industries need to make arrangements to vaccinate employees and action will be taken against institutions that do not follow the Standard Operating Procedure.
Although shooting for small-screen soaps and movies will be allowed, artists and employees must undergo RT-PCR tests and be vaccinated, and production houses must ensure this, the government said.
On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu witnessed nearly 4,000 cases of new viruses, of which Chennai and its surrounding regions accounted for a significant portion.
The number of active cases rose to 27,743 on April 7 from 13,070 on March 28, the government said. As part of the strategy to combat the spread of passions, incremental and aggressive testing was in and around 80,000 RT-PCR tests were being done daily.
Initiatives – such as fever camps, door-to-door study to detect people with the flu as symptoms, and tracking the contacts of those who came in contact with people who tested positive – would return across the state.
In restricted areas, current curbs would continue without any relaxation and international air travel would not be permitted in accordance with the Center ban.
In Chennai, field level committees for each area will be set up to reduce the issue load and similar panels will become operational in the districts as well.
A monitoring mechanism for detention areas (including staff from the police and health department in addition to staff from local authorities) should be in place to ensure that people do not leave such areas.
Volunteers will be assigned to assist people in detention areas and they will ensure the availability of essential goods for residents.
If COVID-19 symptoms are suspected, the nearest government institution should be contacted, the government said, and called for public co-operation.

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
