New London Underground roundels for International Women's Day – ianVisits – London news and events
A series of new washers have appeared across the tube network as TfL marks International Women's Day, which takes place on Sunday March 8.
The TfL roundel has been redesigned in green, purple and white on the basis of the suffragette movement which has played a key role in the fight for women's rights, and the roundel represents three women, representing the gathering of women in solidarity , friendship and support.

Five metro stations were chosen to display the roundels because of their connection to women and transportation.
Maida Vale was the first station to be made up entirely of women during the First World War, the first female metro driver started work at Upton Park and the first female signalman worked at Covent Garden. Victoria station was (indirectly) named in honor of Queen Victoria. The roundels are also presented at Seven Sisters.
In addition, a photo exhibit featuring 20 women in different roles at TfL has been presented at Victoria metro, bus and coach stations since Thursday, March 5. The exhibition aims to debunk some of the myths surrounding working in transport, including the fact that it is only a profession reserved for men.
Staff featured in the photo exhibit include train drivers, station managers, large-scale project managers and department heads among a range of other roles. Each of them talks about their achievements, contributions and progress within TfL.
