Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns of outbreaks of Listeria monocytogenes
United States — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is sending warnings this holiday weekend after the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes in multiple states.
They say the outbreak is related to cooked chicken.
CDC officials say so far three people have become ill and one of them has died in two states. They say more people could have been affected. Everyone ate food served in long-term care facilities and hospitals.
The risk of Listeria infection is high in pregnant women, babies, adults over the age of 65, and people with weakened immunity.
