MU researchers conduct research on vaccine efficacy | COVID-19 Vaccine Information
The Columbia-University of Missouri School of Medicine is studying the longevity and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and how vaccination immunity differs from immunity from natural infections.
The study plans to enroll 500 vaccinated individuals or check blood antibodies to obtain vaccinated individuals.
Principal Investigator Dr. Mark Daniels hopes that the study will lead to information on differences in vaccine efficacy between different demographics, such as gender, age, occupation, and previous exposure to the virus.
The research study analyzes three different vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson) to obtain information about their effectiveness in different individuals.
This study focuses on antibody components and the cell-mediated immune response, especially the cell-mediated immune response to T cells involved in long-term memory and protection.
