More mosquitoes in Contra Costa County are positive for West Nile virus
Concord, CA (KRON) – According to the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District, a new group of mosquitoes in Contra Costa County has been tested positive for West Nile virus.
The mosquito was found in a trap near Brentwood.
So far this year, this is the second group of mosquitoes tested positive in the county — the first group was in eastern Contra Costa County.
Authorities say it only takes a bite to infect a person with the virus.
A mosquito infection can travel up to 15 miles, putting residents within that distance at risk.
