Samantha thought he needed spectacles, but the optician found a brain tumor

After suffering from a persistent headache, a woman who thought she needed spectacles instead realized that, thanks to an optician, she could have a potentially fatal brain tumor.

Samantha Griffith, then 19 years old, was told that the tumor could put so much pressure behind her eyes that she could blind or kill her.

Three days after the tumor was found, Samantha underwent surgery to drill through the brain.

Samantha, now 24, said Wales Online : “I had a terrible headache and was really sensitive to light.

“I thought I was depressed because my grandmother died at the beginning of the year. I’ve always wanted to study fashion, but I’m no longer enjoying Uniwork, so it makes sense at the time. I knew something was wrong.

“I went back and forth to the GP and got depressed, but I knew it wasn’t. I couldn’t understand why I was suffering so much, so I decided to meet an optician. When he looked behind my eyes, I rushed to A & E, when they found a tumor.

“As soon as the doctor told me, I was convinced that it was cancer and I wasn’t going to survive. I was in shock and started thinking about everything I hadn’t done in my life yet. I did. “

Samantha still has a bit of a tumor and is no longer causing problems and can lead a relatively normal life with regular MRI scans and vision tests.

Samantha returned to the University of South Wales to regain some of the research she missed.

Her alumni collection focuses on the number of working women and the number of women who had to adapt to working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
