India reports first human death from bird flu
New Delhi (Reuters)-A 11-year-old boy died in India from the H5N1 avian influenza virus. This highlighted the potential new risks of fighting India’s first such death and the world’s second most populous country. Coronavirus pandemic.
According to a government statement, the boy was admitted to New Delhi’s Supreme All-Indian Institute of Medical Science on July 2, and died of multiple organ failure on Tuesday.
According to the statement, health care workers treating patients and the boy’s family have been quarantined and authorities have begun contact tracing.
In Haryana, the hometown of a boy in northern India, the Livestock Department has not found any suspected cases of bird flu and said it has increased surveillance.
Over the past 20 years, more than five dozen bird flu outbreaks have occurred in poultry in India, all of which have been suppressed and no human cases have been reported so far.
