Ohio (WOIO)-The USDA announced on Saturday that wild white-tailed deer in Ohio tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.
There are no reports of deer showing clinical signs of infection, the USDA added in a media release.
Researchers at Ohio State University collected samples between January and March while investigating deer damage, the release said.
The positive test was not a complete surprise. Early studies have shown that deer can be infected ly and that some wild deer have antibodies to the virus.
