State health leaders say more vaccinations are needed for herd immunity
Oklahoma health leaders said herd immunity for COVID-19 is unlikely to be achieved due to the shortage of vaccinated people and the emergence of new variants. The vaccination rate for Oklahoma is about 50%, which is significantly lower than the estimated 70% required to reach herd immunity.
