Boulder County, Colorado (CNN) — A Colorado public health nurse took an empty COVID-19 vaccine vial into a beautiful work of art and paid tribute to fellow healthcare professionals.

Laura Weiss told CNN that she was a retired nurse when Boulder County Public Health sought help with vaccination in February.

“I realized that hundreds of empty vaccine vials were wasted. They were really beautiful and I wanted to do something important and meaningful,” says Weiss.

Weiss created a beautiful chandelier with permission to use a glass Moderna vaccine vial.

“For many who like the idea of ​​bringing light to this, I felt this year was a very dark and rewarding year, so I wanted to do something with light,” she said.

“Light can express hope and clarity, and I think it could actually broaden our horizons and verify our perspectives.”

The actual idea of ​​making a chandelier came from the purchase of eBay. She found an empty frame online and thought it would be a great ship for her project.
