Joe McCarron: The family is calling on the funeral hall of a patient with Letterkenny Covid to keep the fear of the virus private.
A family of men who died in Covid after being first advised to leave the hospital by anti-vaccine activists are supposed to keep their homes secret before the funeral because of fear of the virus.
oe McCarron died Friday afternoon at Letterkenny University Hospital in County Donegal.
A 75-year-old woman from Dungloe was hospitalized for several days after being infected with the virus.
His case received national and international attention when vaccine protesters advised him to sign out of the hospital last Tuesday.
Protesters alleged that Mr McCarron had been forced into the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Protesters filmed McCarron’s release from the hospital.
In a video posted on social media, you can hear a doctor asking McCarron to be hospitalized.
But protesters told McCarron that he would die if he remained in the hospital.
McCarron was released, but was rushed back to the hospital two days later on the last Thursday with severe dyspnea.
He first put on a ventilator and showed signs of improvement.
However, his condition has deteriorated recently and he died yesterday.
He will be buried following Mass at the Church of St. Krona in Dungloe tomorrow noon.
He will be put to rest in the Magalie Cemetery.
His family, including his wife Una, asked those who wanted to sympathize with the family not to call the family’s home because of Covid’s fear.
The notice about his obituary says, “The house is privately owned as the pandemic continues.”
Meanwhile, former Justice Minister Alan Shutter called for Garda’s investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. McCarron’s death.
He tweeted. “I would like to express my condolences to Joe McCarron’s family, who died at Letterkenny Hospital yesterday.
“Gardi needs to clarify whether, contrary to medical advice, the false recommendation of a third party to leave the hospital earlier this month is the subject of Garda’s investigation.”
Meanwhile, after the death of the late McCarron, hundreds of messages of sympathy were sent on social media.
