Cases of active coronavirus increased by nearly 400 from Monday to 3,694, and in Burleigh and Morton counties to 1,070. Burleigh County alone accounts for almost a quarter of the state.
Health officials calculated a 14-day moving average positive rate of 6.92%. This is almost 2 percent above the state’s target of less than 5 percent. The 14-day interest rate started the year at around 4% and remained below target until mid-August. It has been steadily rising for nearly three months due to the development of the highly contagious delta variant of the virus.
With three new deaths, the North Dakota pandemic has killed 1,607 people, including 34 reported in the last 14 days.The state no longer publishes the newly confirmed counties, genders, and age ranges of death, but Burleigh’s total is in the state. Coronavirus dashboard Tuesday increased by one to 213. Morton’s total of 104 remained unchanged.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 130,574 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in North Dakota, 125,273 recovery and 5,163 hospitalizations. There were 135 COVID-19 patients in a hospital in North Dakota on Tuesday, an increase of 2 from Monday.
