Woman gives birth to son before dying on COVID-19
Dickson County, Tennessee (WKRN) — Perry’s life was normal last month. Billy and Amanda Perry were preparing to welcome the boy, so the mixed family of seven was likely to be eight.
And on September 15th, Amanda COVID She had pneumonia because she was 32 weeks pregnant.
“She had breathing problems, so I took her to the Dixon ER,” Billy said.
Doctors performed an emergency caesarean section and the baby Nolan survived, but Amanda’s health continued to deteriorate and she was taken to a trauma center in Virginia.
“All local hospitals had reached capacity. We were trying to find a hospital with available beds to treat her at ECMO,” Billy said.
Billy says Amanda fought over high fever, mastitis, tracheostomy, blood bacteria, lung collapse, and blood transfusions.
She died on Monday.
“When I was standing outside her room with the minister and Amanda’s mom was in the room with her, I noticed that her mom was saying goodbye to her. I knew that was coming, “Billy said.
Billy says Amanda was hesitant to get vaccinated during pregnancy, but planned to get an injection after giving birth.
“Be careful with pregnant women. Be careful where you go and what you do. Be smart,” Billy said. “Amanda wasn’t vaccinated, so I was scared to vaccinate. I’m not. I’ll vaccinate when all the dust has settled down here. I’ll get it done. “
Now their newborn son, Nolan, grows up learning about his mother from the memories of others.
“He will hear a lot of good things about his mom,” Billy said.
Amanda’s funeral will take place this Sunday at 2:00 pm at Taylor Funeral Home. Dixon County.. Visits are from 6pm to 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights.
