Wildlife officials believe that a rune stabbed in the main killed a bald eagle – NECN
Maine wildlife officials believe that the first recorded attack by an animal resulted in the killing of a bald eagle by another bird after a month-long investigation.
“Wow” is a term used by Daniel Dauria, a wildlife biologist at the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in Maine, to describe a heart-stabbed eagle in September last year.

Instead, the researchers focused on measuring what they found to be a stab wound that actually led to the hypothesis that the criminal was the rune the criminal was attacking.
“Sure enough, the lab staff did all of that, and her findings were consistent with what we had suspected,” said Dauria.
The runes are known to float in water and make a symbolic call, but biologists are also known to attack when prompted.
D’Auria told NECN and NBC10 Boston that birds could become territory in the spring and attack each other.
They are also known to jump out of the water and force a sharp beak against the eagle, as in the case of Bridgeton, where a dead rune chick with a talon mark was found near the eagle, the chick of the rune. May prey on.
“They are really beautiful and gentle animals, but they can protect themselves and be aggressive towards others,” explained Dauria.
All the measurements of the eagle’s wounds, along with witnesses who heard a loud noise from the lake that night, show that it’s happening.
“From our understanding, this is the first time this was actually recorded where the eagle, the pretty top predator, was killed, and that’s why it was pretty appealing,” Dauria said.
If you find a carcass of an eagle in Maine, you will be asked to call the state’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Staff will give instructions on how to retrieve the animal, or the state will come to do the recovery itself.
