Mental Health Awareness Week: Support Provided to Shropshire Hospital Workers During Coronavirus Outbreaks
Mental Health Awareness Week, and during the crisis, Shropshire hospital bosses say they’re making sure staff have access to the support they need.
The Shrewsbury Hospital and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust have many ways in which workers can get help, but it’s also amazing to see how the community came together to support the hospital.
One form of support available to staff is the welfare hubs of both Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, providing useful information, contacts and personal care items donated to SaTH Charity.
Staff also have telephone mental health support, including professional counseling and psychotherapy support accredited by the British Council of Counseling and Psychotherapy.
The hospital also works with the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to provide psychological support from experienced psychologists and psychotherapists.
Access to the “Wobble Room” and coaches and mental health champions is also provided.
A variety of online e-learning health modules are available for topics such as mindfulness, resilience, leadership and coping strategies. A one-hour health, stress, and anxiety session is delivered via Zoom.
