COVID cases increase slightly in Pork County
In Pork County, new COVID-19 infections increased for the first time in 11 weeks.
The Florida Department of Health reported 382 new weekly cases on Friday. This is a 15% increase from last week’s report. In Pork County, the number of cases has decreased in the last 10 weeks.

The total for each week is equivalent to 54.6 new infections per day.
The county’s positive rate rose from 2.8% to 3.2%, overcoming the long-term continuous decline. This rate, which reflects the positive results of tests conducted on residents of Pork County, is well below the Ministry of Health’s 10% target threshold.
Positive rates reached 28.9% in mid-August, with delta variants causing infections and record rates across Polk County and Florida.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reduced the risk of COVID-19 infection in Pork County to “moderate.” This is the first time the county has reached such a low level before the appearance of the delta mutation in June.

Authorities have rated the infection level in Pork County as “substantial” in recent weeks. This rate remained “high” for most of the summer, as the delta variant caused a surge in infection.
The assessment is based on the prevalence of infection. The CDC reported that 45.39 per 100,000 residents of Pork County during the week ending Friday were slightly below the threshold of 50 cases worthy of the “substantial” label.
However, according to the latest information from the Florida Department of Health, 53.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants increased by 15.2% from the previous week.
As another sign of concern, the CDC reported 88 new COVID-related hospitalizations in Pork County during the week ending Thursday. This reflects an increase of 15 from the previous week.

The CDC recorded 10 COVID-related deaths in Pork County. This is a decrease from 22 cases a week ago. Death is a late indicator in official reports, and death may have occurred days or weeks ago.
By November 4, Pork County had killed 2,464 people, according to a website managed by Jason Salemi, an associate professor of epidemiology at the USF Health College of Public Health. The Florida Department of Health stopped reporting deaths by the county in June.
The agency revealed an additional 363 COVID-related deaths across the state, 301 fewer than last week’s registration, down 45.3%.
The agency currently has a cumulative death toll from COVID-19 in Florida of 60,697.
The state reported an additional 10,746 confirmed infections among Floridians in weekly updates. This is 2.9% less than the previous week.

State agencies have recorded 129,152 confirmed infections in Pork County since they began tracking cases.
Weekly vaccinations in Pork County increased for the first time in weeks. The Ministry of Health reported that 3,038 doses were given. This increased by nearly 107% from a week ago.
The Ministry of Health has not specified whether the new vaccination was the first dose, the second dose of the two-shot regiment, or the booster shot.
Authorities have begun to include residents over the age of 5 in the calculation of vaccination rates. In Pork County, 60% of eligible residents receive at least one dose, the agency said.

A week ago, the county was 66% over 12 years old. According to Salemi’s website, the vaccine is currently approved for children between the ages of 5 and 11. Pork is ranked 27th out of 67 counties in terms of vaccination coverage.
Across the state, 67% of Floridians over the age of five received at least one dose, the agency reported.
Friday’s CDC website states that 59.6% of Pork County residents have been fully vaccinated, an increase of 0.4 points from the previous week. The Ministry of Health reported about 110,00 new doses throughout the state. This is an increase of 93.7% from a week ago.
