Why Missouri Health Authorities Expect Influenza Cases to Increase in the coming Weeks

Jefferson City, Missouri — The number of influenza cases in Missouri this year has doubled since the same period last year. Health officials say it’s because people are traveling again and haven’t been vaccinated against the flu.

Due to the low vaccination rate, Kawelauf said more people are more susceptible to COVID and the flu.
“People know what’s right just by doing the right thing. It’s about protecting others. And the best way to protect others is to get vaccinated,” Kawelauf said. “In the season of gratitude, I hope people set their differences aside and do good things for others.”
