Indianapolis (Wish) – In the state, COVID-19 hospitalizations are skyrocketing again.
Most of the beds are occupied by unvaccinated people.
The surge comes at a time when it’s already rough. Non-immune people are deadly and highly contagious magnets of delta infection. Omicron is on the rise. Mutations now account for 73% of all new US infections, and many health authorities say they are expected to increase.
Dr. Christopher Doring, Vice President of Medical Care Franciscan HealthFranciscan recently told News 8 that the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 has been devastating.
“Here in our hospital, it’s more than tripled from five weeks ago,” he said. “So we are definitely looking at the number of sick patients who need to be in the hospital, with the virus continuing to grow and spread.”
Doehring believes that the rapid spread is due to the aftermath of Thanksgiving gatherings. Indianapolis Hospital came out of 20 beds occupied by coronavirus patients before the holidays. Now they are 80 years old.
