Nine in ten adults are now happy to leave the house as fears of the virus fade, official figures show.
More are going outside and meeting up with friends and family, a weekly survey by the Office for National Statistics found. Last week 90 per cent of those polled said they left their homes, up from 86 per cent the week before.
And the proportion of people who only left for work, shopping, medical reasons or to exercise fell to 73 per cent – its lowest level since lockdown began.

The largest increase in reasons for leaving home was for people meeting others in a public place, the ONS said. The proportion doing so more than tripled to 11.5 per cent.
Those admitting to breaking the rules by having friends or family around to their homes, or visiting someone themselves, nearly doubled to 4.7 per cent, the survey of 1,030 adults found.
A poll last week revealed Britons didn’t want to go back into work because of a fear of lockdown being eased too quickly.

The survey was a setback for Boris Johnson, illustrating the uphill task he faces to bring the nation’s moribund economy back to life quickly.
The survey also showed that people have more money in their pockets on average than at the beginning of lockdown – with public-sector workers gaining the most.
But there is a big difference between the effect of the lockdown on people with jobs in the private sector compared with the 5.5million in the public sector.
A total of 38 per cent who work in the private sector, where tens of thousands of have lost their jobs or had wages cut, are worse off, according to the poll. Just 29 per cent are better off.
