Toronto launches 8,000 COVID-19 vaccination appointments on Sunday and Monday
Toronto has begun booking an additional 8,000 COVID-19 vaccinations to vaccinate more residents to combat the highly contagious variant of Omicron.
At 8 am on Friday, the city will begin booking for adults and children on the state booking system. Schedules will be available on Sunday, January 16th and Monday, January 17th, at any of the five herd immunity clinics in the city.
“Given the emergence of new Omicron variants and the ongoing community infection of Delta variants, TPH encourages all eligible residents to book a third dosing appointment,” city officials said in a Friday press release. Residents over the age of 30 will receive Moderna vaccine until later this month, when Pfizer’s supply is increased, according to city officials.
In addition to municipal clinics, residents can book vaccinations at hospital clinics, local health team websites, and city pharmacies.
In the last 7 days, the city has given more than 200,000 coronavirus vaccines.
To date, 49% of children aged 5 to 11 years in Toronto have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine for the first time and 11% have been vaccinated twice.
On the other hand, almost 90% of residents over the age of 12 receive at least one dose, nearly 87% receive two doses, and 48% receive three doses.
