Henry Ford Health System officials say their COVID hospitalizations are declining
(WXYZ) — Henry Ford Health System officials said Wednesday that the number of COVID hospitalizations has dropped from 551 to 499 on Monday.
“This is a very promising sign and we certainly hope it will be the beginning of the trend, but it’s clearly premature,” said Bob Linnie, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Healthcare business. I am.
Riney emphasized the importance of getting a booster and noted that the data show that more than 90% of patients admitted with COVID did not receive a booster.
He said another sign of hope was a decline in the positive rate. On Wednesday morning, Riney said the positive rate was 33%, compared to the 44% trend in early January.
“Omicron variants are still very contagious and pervasive throughout the community, so it’s important to stay vigilant,” says Riney.
He added, “We see these trends as a sign of hope and a sign of optimism.
According to Linny, 77 beds have been temporarily closed due to staffing issues. In addition, 473 team members are absent from work due to COVID, down from 593 a week ago.
“Our team members continue to do incredible work,” Riney said.
Eric Wallis, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, quoted data that the pandemic increased demand for nursing staff by up to 245%. He said nurses are leaving the profession at record speed.
Wallis said there are currently 1,000 RN vacancies across the Henry Ford Health System.
“We have worked on many short-term and long-term strategies to address that issue,” Wallis said.
Wallis said he is looking for nurses from the Philippines and will be able to join the team as early as this summer.
They said they were encouraged by the registration rate of nursing and were also looking for new ways to attract and retain nurses.
