State addresses two clusters of COVID-19 cases identified this week
Helena — From May 25th to June 1st, 40 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in Montana.
Of those cases, 22 were in Bighorn County and 12 were in Yellowstone County.
Governor Steve Brock spoke to members of the media on Monday about two separate clusters of COVID-19 recently discovered in Big Horn and Yellowstone County.
The Yellowstone County cluster is linked to Yellowstone County Jail.
State medical officer Dr. Greg Holtzman said the cluster case was still under investigation, but the state was able to link all cases to the origin.
“Thus, I don’t think the community will grow in either location at this time, but we want to keep track of contacts and stay in front of the community so that it doesn’t grow,” Holzman said. States.
According to Hozulman, the extent of the community is a place of unspecified origin and has not yet been documented in the state.
“I would like to emphasize that for every positive case that is currently occurring in Montana, no one could pinpoint exactly where the positive transmission came from,” Bullock added.
Brock said he is not considering returning to phase 1 of the state at this time, but local county authorities can raise the limit if necessary.
The state is actively considering ways to limit diffusion from tourists, but fortunately most tourists say they come to Montana to spend the outdoors.
“We know the virus is still here,” Bullock said. “I think it’s Bighorn and Yellowstone. Even if it happens in Gallatin, it’s really important to catch the case early and do community tracing to ensure a few cases. I’m getting out of hand.”
