WHO says Covid shouldn’t be treated like the flu

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Covid-19 should not be likened to influenza.

Health agencies around the world have said governments around the world “should not suggest to people that the data has changed suddenly or that the virus has suddenly become incredibly weak.”

Dr. David Nabarro, WHO Special Envoy for Covid-19, said “the end was visible,” but Europe only “passed the midpoint of the marathon.”

When asked about the opinion that Covid-19 should be treated like the flu, Dr. Navarro told Sky News:

“As you can see, people all over the world are reporting to WHO that this is still a very dangerous virus, especially for those who have never been vaccinated and have never been exposed before. Even more so.

“It can also mutate to form variants, and I’ve seen some, but I know it’s not too far away.

“Honestly, I’m not saying that this should be thought of like the flu, or really something else.

“This is a new virus that is surprising, very annoying, and needs to be treated as if it were quite cunning.”

He told the broadcaster: “All governments around the world should not suggest to people that data has changed suddenly or that the virus has suddenly become incredibly weak.

“Government must set the direction and don’t be ashamed of it.

“So, we ask all leaders around the world to focus on the task of keeping the virus away, to prevent people from getting infected as much as possible, and to make sure they are ready. We will deal with the further surge. “

But he said the end of the battle with Europe’s Covid-19 was “visible.”

“We can see the end, but how long does it take to get there? What difficulties do we face along the way? These are because the virus continues to challenge and surprise us. It’s a question that none of us can answer. “

He added: “It’s like we’re past the midpoint of the marathon. Yes, we can see that there is an end and fast runners are passing in front of us.

“But we’re still on a long way and it will be difficult.”

Ireland has made a big comeback by breaking most of the curbs of society.

The move announced by the government on Friday night came into effect on Saturday at 6 am.

The curfew at 8 pm in the hospitality sector is gone, and pubs and restaurants can now trade without restrictions and without the need for social distance.

Admission to hospitality, entertainment and leisure facilities no longer requires a Covid certification pass.

Live and sporting events can return to full capacity as bumper crowds are expected with some equipment throughout the weekend.

Guidance on restricting household visits has been removed, and workers across Ireland will return to the office at a staggered time from Monday.

The restrictions are negligible, including the ongoing requirement to wear masks in stores, schools, public transport, and other environments. Self-quarantine rules; and use of Covid pass for overseas travel.

Taoiseach Michelál Martin warned that the coronavirus pandemic was not over.

But he added: I don’t know if I was looking forward to this as much as I was looking forward to it.

“Human beings are social beings, and we Irish people are more social than others.

“I’m looking forward to this spring, so I need to meet again. We need to see each other’s smiles. We need to sing again.

“When we navigate this new stage of Covid, it’s time to be ourselves again.”

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
