New Brunswick reports two additional deaths related to COVID-19 Sunday
Health officials in New Brunswick said Sunday that people in their 80s in the Moncton area and people in their 70s in the Bathurst area died as a result of COVID-19.

In a news release on Sunday, public health reported that a total of 126 people in the state were hospitalized with COVID-19. Currently, 10 people are in the intensive care unit.
Of those currently hospitalized, 74 were hospitalized for reasons other than COVID-19.
101 hospitalized patients are over 60 years old and 6 are on ventilator. Public health said on Sunday that three people under the age of 19 are currently hospitalized.
The state said that the proportion of people in the hospital and in the ICU continue to have the greatest impact on those who have not been vaccinated and those who have been more than 6 months old since the second dose.
Parents encouraged by vaccinated children
Authorities are urging parents and guardians to book a COVID-19 vaccine for their child’s first or second vaccination, if not yet booked.
Children aged 5 to 11 years who have already received the first dose of the vaccine are eligible for a second dose 8 weeks after the first dose.

Booster shots available
The New Brunswick state government recommends that those eligible for a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine make an appointment to delay the spread of the virus.

New Brunswick is currently in Level 3 of its winter program to manage COVID-19.
