No new COVID-19-related deaths in Ottawa on Sunday and hospitalization is stable

Ottawa Public Health reports zero new COVID-19-related deaths in Ottawa on Sunday. On the second day of this month, there were no new virus-related deaths.

The number of residents of Ottawa in hospitals with active COVID-19 infection is stable at 26, and the ICU has 4 patients.

Twenty-six patients hospitalized for COVID-19-related illnesses on Sunday have the lowest number of hospitalizations since December 26.

To count as an inpatient intervention, admission must include treatment for active COVID-19 infection or be extended for active COVID-19. This also applies to people who may be infected with COVID-19 during hospitalization. Local hospitals report a large number of patients who tested positive for COVID-19.

This shows the latest number of COVID-19 cases reported by each Ottawa Hospital (as of Friday).

  • CHEO: 8 patients

  • Montfort Hospital: 15 patients

  • Queen’s Way Carlton Hospital: 21 patients

  • Ottawa Hospital: 59 patients

Ottawa Public Health reported 124 cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Sunday. Due to testing restrictions, it is believed to underestimate the true level of infection in the city.

Since the first COVID-19 cases in Ottawa in March 2020, 60,580 COVID-19 cases have been identified in Ottawa, including 736 deaths.

Ottawa’s Key COVID-19 Statistics

  • 19 cases per 100,000 COVID (February 5th to February 11th): 107.3 (decreased from 114.5)

  • Positive rate of Ottawa community (excluding long-term care facilities) (February 4 to 10): 11.7%

  • Number of reproductions (7-day average): 0.84

  • Known active cases: 1,361 (-33)

A recall value greater than 1 indicates that the virus has spread and each case has infected multiple contacts. If it is less than 1, it means that the spread is slowing down.

The number of known active cases is the number of confirmed cases (based on tests) minus the number of resolved cases and deaths.
