The 15th COVID-related death announced by PEICPHO on the eve of deregulation
Dr. Heather Morrison, PEI’s Chief Public Health Officer, announced in a news release Wednesday that a person between the ages of 40 and 59 is the 15th COVID-related death in a pandemic.
Three people have been hospitalized for COVID-19, and three have been hospitalized for other reasons but were positive for COVID at or after admission.
As of 8 am on Wednesday, there are 289 new cases of COVID-19. These new cases are still under investigation.
Over the last 7 days, PEI has averaged 198 new cases per day.
This recent death news comes just as the state is preparing to mitigate public health measures in its first step. Go ahead It is planned to take effect on Thursday at 12:01 am.
It will also be the same day that PEI Premier Dennis King announced that he would be quarantined after close contact with the COVID-19 case.
One of my children tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday night.
Since then, I have been working from home and following the advice of the Director of Public Health. So far, I haven’t experienced any symptoms and tested negative.

Outbreak
Currently, there are outbreaks at three PEI care facilities: Andrews of Park West, Clinton View Lodge, and South Shore Villa. It also occurs at Corrigan Home, one of the community care facilities.
There are cases or outbreaks in 24 early learning and childcare centers. Five are closed, eight are open, and 11 is working with capacity changes or reductions.
It also occurs at Community Hospital O’Leary and Prince County Correctional Center.
Currently, there are 2,025 active cases of COVID-19, and the total number of COVID-19 cases is 10,947.
