CEPI, THSTI, and panacea for developing betacoronavirus vaccines
The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is set as follows: collaboration We have worked with the Translational Health Sciences and Technology Institute (THSTI) and Panacea Biotec to develop vaccine candidates for SARS-Cov-2 virus variants and other betacoronaviruses.
Betacoronavirus is a type of coronavirus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and SARS-CoV-2.
THSTI is an autonomous body of the Biotechnology Division of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India.
CEPI will offer awards for vaccine development under the $ 200 million program announced last March.
Up to $ 12.5 million worth of funding will be provided to support the development of multiepitope, nanoparticle-based vaccine candidates and accelerate the manufacturing process.
Lead antigens are designed and selected by THSTI and Panacea through proof-of-concept clinical trials under this research program.
In addition, the consortium is conducting preliminary clinical development and Phase I / II clinical trials to validate the proof of concept of a new vaccine that provides protection against MERS, SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2 and its variants. I will carry it out.
