Western Australia has recorded another day for more than 2,000 COVID-19 cases

In Western Australia, 2,289 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded.

Currently, there are 28 people in the hospital, up from 21 on Friday, but no one in the intensive care unit.

PCR tests identified more than 1,500 new cases, and 785 were self-reported rapid antigen tests.

Comes yesterday when the hospital is preparing for a visitor’s return visit after the Chief Health Officer announced: The rules that prevent most people from visiting friends and relatives will be relaxed from Sunday.

Health Minister Amber Jade Sanderson said Chief Health Officer Andy Robertson was able to make the rules more flexible.

“It’s a credit to the Chief Health Officer, he reviewed the rules, found a way to provide a little more flexibility, and admitted that everyone’s situation is different,” she said.

Under the new rules, patients can accept one visitor for every two visit sessions daily.

Previously, only people with disabilities were allowed to visit their childbirth partners, caregivers, parents, or those who assist end-of-life patients.

Ms. Sanderson said she understands that even with the more relaxed rules, it is still difficult for some people who have loved ones in the hospital.

“I now understand that this is a cold comfort for my loved ones in the hospital, but know that these steps are being taken to protect your loved ones and everyone else.” She said.

The patient had a hard time without a family visit

Kalgoorlie’s mother, Jeri Bennett, had her appendix removed about a week ago, but felt sick and was readmitted earlier this week.

“I came to the hospital, my husband dropped me off and went walking with me [but] I couldn’t do it. “

“I was clearly upset, which made the pain even worse.”

Ms. Bennett said her husband was given permission to visit on Friday, but her eight-year-old son has not yet been allowed.

“My husband was registered for a visit yesterday. He dropped our son with his family, but didn’t say [him] Apparently my son was upset, so he was about to go, “she said.

Bennett was scheduled to leave the hospital tomorrow, but she said other patients who were still recovering should have their children visited.

“If you’re here for weeks or weeks, of course you want to see your kids. I think your kids should be able to visit,” she said.

“Every minute, you don’t know what will happen, and they need someone. Someone must be here for them.”

Mr Sanderson said the state government still wants to roll back broader Level 2 measures “in the coming weeks.”
